There has been a 782% increase in cyber security incidents from 2006-2012. Companies such as SRC Cyber are pressured to create new products and tools that defend against potential threats and aid in recovery. Breaches can happen to anyone at anytime. Ford Day


OU Alumni and now members of the Ford IT team will be on campus hosting Ford Day! Join the Ford IT team on Thursday, September 25th (11:00 am – 1:00 pm), for an interactive discussion panel to discuss and learn about a day in the life of a Ford IT employee, career opportunities and how to get involved. Ford vehicles will be on display as well – including a Mustang and F-150! Go further and discover your future with Ford!

Coffee with Chrysler


In partnership with Career Services, CyberOU is proud to host Chrysler Group LLC on Tuesday, September 23rd (11:30am – 1:30pm) in the New Engineering Building’s Atrium for Coffee with Chrysler. Representatives from Chrysler will be on hand from various sectors of IT and Engineering including security, networking, and powertrain to answer any questions students may have. This will cover internships as well as full-time positions within Chrysler. This is a great chance to gain valuable information about Chrysler’s IT & Engineering departments and gain insight on the recruiting process. Please bring your resumes!

New Engineering Building Grand Opening


Join CyberOU on Friday, September 12th from 12:30 pm – 2 pm for the Grand Opening of the Engineering Center. CyberOU will be on hand giving Demonstrations alongside other SECS Student Organizations as well as registering new members and answering questions.

Career Preparation at OU


CyberOU will be hosting an event on Thursday, September 11th from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm in 220 Hannah Hall of Science (HHS) to prepare students for the Career Fair, so they know what to expect from the daunting event. Recent graduates Trpko Blazevski (Chrysler Group LLC) and RJ Fischer (Ford Motor Company) will share their knowledge on the IT field and their newly acquired experience.

Oakland University GrizzFest


Join CyberOU on Tuesday, September 9th from 11 am – 2 pm outside between the Oakland Center, Kresge Library, and Dodge Hall at GrizzFest. CyberOU representatives will be on hand to answer any questions, sign up new members, and show interactive demos.



Participate in MHacks on Friday, September 5th – Sunday, September 7th in Ann Arbor. Students from across the world come to MHacks to build amazing things, turn visions into products, and to meet other people energized about the same things as you. MHacks is for creators. It’s for those of you who see problems and want to tackle them, using existing skills, and augmenting them with the skills of those around you. Join CyberOU on Tuesday, September 2nd from 4 – 5 pm outside in a tent across from the Recreation Center at the Involvement Fair immediately following the New Student Convocation (which is from 3 – 4 pm). CyberOU representatives will be on hand to answer any questions, sign up new members, and show interactive demos.

MITRE Capture the Flag Cyber Challenge 2014


In support of the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) initiative, MITRE and (ISC)2 will be hosting a national Capture the Flag (CTF) Competition. The virtual event gives high school and college students the opportunity to compete against their peers in cyber security challenges. Teams of four will work together to solve problems in steganography, software exploitation, computer forensics, cryptography, and networking.

Competition Days:

The CTF competition itself will be held on August 15 and 16. The 24-hour virtual competition will start at 3:00 PM EDT on August 15 and end at 3:00 PM EDT on August 16. At the end of event, the winning team will be declared. Winning teams will receive four $1,000 college scholarships, vouchers to take the SSCP exam, and receive early consideration for participation in MITRE’s Cyber Internship program.*
