Tim Flattery – The Creative Process and Designing for Hollywood Films

Join TALK and CyberOU as they welcome Tim Flattery. A multi-talented creative concept artist and designer, Tim Flattery is an expert in concept development, design, fabrication and story for the entertainment industry. In a career spanning more than 25 years, he has worked on some of the biggest films for some of the most famous directors in the world including Steven Spielberg, Robert Zemeckis and Michael Bay. Among the number of highly anticipated films he has worked on are Rise of the Guardians 2, Star Trek 3, Tomorrowland and Captain America: Winter Soldier. Previously he has designed and overseen full size construction of custom vehicles such as the Batmobile for Batman Forever, The Fantasticar for Fantastic Four: Rise of The Silver Surfer, the Amphibicopter and other vehicles for A.I. Artificial Intelligence. Additionally, he has raised the creative bar with acclaimed design work on award winning and blockbuster films including Saving Private Ryan, Men In Black 1-2, Transformers, Pirates Of The Caribbean, The Hunger Games, Spiderman 2 and many, many others. He has also done creative work for Walt Disney Imagineering, Chimera Design, EA Games and Spinmaster in the area of theme parks, resorts and games.

OU INC’s Best Shot Competition


Have a brilliant business idea? Working on a new product? Test out giving your product pitch at OU INC’s Best Shot Competition.

Ten participants will be selected from those whom sign up. If chosen, you will pitch your product to a panel of judges; have a chance to win $500 cash, free services for your business and a 6-month membership to MidMichigan Innovation Center; and receive further assistance and consulting from MidMichigan Innovation Center.

Prizes also include a free year membership at OU INC and $1200 in legal services from the Katz Law Firm.

The event will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 22 from 5-8 PM at OU Inc. (1 Golf View Ln., Rochester, MI 48309). The event is FREE but REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.

On Friday, August 14, at 4:00 PM, Mac-OU INC client company Coupon Wallet invites you to participate in their 24-hour hackathon! Coupon Wallet has an extensive RESTful API for creating, managing, tracking, clearing, and using coupons digitally. The hackathon challenge is to create an application on any platform (i.e. website, Android, iOS, etc.) using this API. Hardware solutions are welcome as well, though no tools/components will be provided (teams will be required to supply their own). Teams will be judged on their creativity and innovation!

Teams of up to four members are welcome.

GM is coming to campus! GM professionals are looking forward to meeting OU’s engineering and IT students at a casual Meet and Greet on Thursday, Sept. 24, from 12:00 PM1:00 PM in the EC Atrium. Lunch will be provided for students.

After seeing so much interest from OU students, Dynatrace will be stopping by campus again this semester! On Tuesday, Oct. 6, from 12:00 AM1:00 PM in EC 275, Dynatrace will be presenting on application performance management and how they stay a front-runner in the business. You’re invited to the 2015 Engineering and IT Career Fair! The fair will be on Tuesday, Sept. 22, in the OU Rec Center from 10:00 AM1:00 PM. All engineering, CS, IT, MIS, and Occupational Safety and Health majors and alumni are welcome to join the 50+ employers already registered for this year. Ford IT Day


We are extremely excited to announce Ford will be coming back to OU this year for the second annual Ford IT Day! Join key Ford IT professionals for an interactive panel discussing a day in the life of a Ford IT employee, career and internship opportunities, and how to get involved. Join the Ford team on Thursday, Sept. 17, in the EC Atrium and TBD classroom from 11:00 AM3:00 PM.

Stay posted for a full itinerary of the day. There will be an exclusive lunch for 30 students. To register for the lunch, please email ITFCGCAR@ford.com with your name, major, class standing, and a question about Ford. Seating for lunch is limited to 30 students, so act quickly! Students whom register within the 30 seat limit will receive a confirmation e-mail.

All panels, discussions, and meet and greet opportunities (besides the lunch) are open to all students; they are NOT LIMITED to the 30 students whom register for lunch. Please drop by throughout the day.

Hack 4 Detroit


Calling all hackers! Join Automation Alley this summer Jun 12, 2015 7:00 PM – Jun 13, 2015 7:00 PM at Grand Circus Detroit for a hackathon to benefit the city of Detroit!

Last year, teams were challenged to build an app for Detroit Public Library and two interns from Detroit Venture Partners went home with the $5,000 grand prize.

#hack4detroit will include breakfast and lunch. The cost to participate is $20. Participation is limited to 65 people. Registration closes June 5, 2015.

Automation Alley’s Detroit office is located inside Grand Circus Detroit on the 4th floor of Broderick Tower, 1570 Woodward Ave.
